Calling all budding photographers!

Calling all budding photographers!

Photographers from all over the world are drawn to and inspired by Scotland's landscape and natural heritage. Alongside hill walking, history and just pure relaxation, photography is one of the top motivations for a campervan holiday. Being able to be ready at the right spot for that perfect shot by travelling with your accommodation and having the freedom and flexibility to be anywhere, anytime!

Launched in 2010 The Scottish Nature Photography Awards were launched and Highland Campervans have been a proud sponsor for one of the categories ever since. The awards were launched to provide a platform to celebrate Scotland as a key destination for nature photographers and to acknowledge the excellence of the photographic work that is undertaken here through the award of the title of "Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year". The annual competition invites entries of images taken in Scotland by professional or amateur photographers from around the world.

The winners of the category we sponsor  “Scottish Landscape - The Land Category” are given a complimentary long weekend break in our  luxury hightop Hylander Campervan. This is the perfect prize for the winner to get closer to their photography subjects. The campervan is fully self-sufficient with heaters and have on-board fresh and waste water tanks. With a porta potti also included, photographers can be confident that they can leave no trace on the landscape they are capturing.

If you are a keen photographer, you must visit  The Scottish Nature Photography Awards website. You will find all of the information on how to enter and what the prizes are for all 11 categories. Entries for this year are open NOW until 31th November 2015.

The winner of our category in 2014 was Chris Stuart, this was what he said about his entry  - Thrift on Beinn Eighe, Torridon

"It took several trips driving to Torridon after work and making the climb to the trig point to photograph the sunset before I experienced the spectacular light seen in this image. I was surprised to see thrift growing so high on the ridge, but I loved the way it was back lit by the setting sun. Even without an award winning photograph these are moments to treasure. I waited until the sun had partially sunk below the summit so that it was not too bright, but was still lighting up the flowers. Shooting straight into the setting sun is always challenging so I am very pleased that the judges have recognised my efforts."

The 2013 winner entered - Loup of Fintry Twilight - Here is Philip Stewart's fabulous award winning entry.

Make sure to visit The Scottish Nature photography awards website for the full information on how to enter and what you win!

Good Luck to all entrants in the 2015 awards and we look forward to seeing the winning entry of our category!

Just a word to say thank you to you and your team for the smooth and friendly process of buying our new van. We appreciated that, although the van was purchased as seen, you did help us with a couple of minor issues which were all quickly rectified. The van has turned out to be just what we wanted. From two very satisfied customers, many thanks.
