Ski season! Yet another good reason to head to the Highlands!

Posted on by Jo Page

Highland Ski resort road trip anyone?

With the weather cooling and with us already experiencing crisp cold frosty mornings, winter will soon be knocking on our door. You can feel the skiers and snowboarders excitement building already and hopefully we will be blessed with another season of fantastic wintery weather for our bustling ski resorts.

On our doorstep we are lucky to have a great selection of Ski resorts to make us a great skiing and snowboarding adventure playground!

What better way to make sure you are up and ready for the action by using a campervan as your travel and accommodation. No messing about  if the snow changes it’s mind and you want to go to a different resort, no amending/cancelling costly accommodation, the freedom to stop and get your head down easily to make sure you are there, ready to be the first on the piste!

Imagine waking up, opening the curtains and there you are already on the mountain! The Highland Campervans Hylander camper is a neat modern van with all the facilities on board to make sure you are set for the slopes.

A webasto heater will warm your cold bones after a day on the slopes and also ensures you kept toasty and warm overnight. The two gas hob burner will come in handy for your bowl of energy boosting porridge or bacon butty to set you up for the day! The fully equipped kitchen means you don’t have to worry about arranging to take anything with you, just take yourself and your skis and you are good to go!

With improved facilities at the Ski centres, some now have campervan pitches, hook up facility and most have year round campsites close by.

Glenshee and Glencoe ski resorts both have electricity hook up points for campervans at the centre.

The Cairngorms have a good range of year round campsites available such as Glenmore, Rothemurchus, High range, and Dalraddy.

At The Lecht ski resort there is a large car park that you are able to use overnight, you will have no hook-up facility available but having all your facilities on board including fresh and waste water tanks, all you leave behind is your ski tracks and no mess!

With the wintery weather and snow being its usual unpredictable self, the delight of the campervan is being able to move between the resorts to make sure you can make the most of your time on the slopes!
