About us

Established in 2007, Highland Campervans is still very much a family business led by Catherine and Stephen.  Our award-winning business strives to provide the best personal service and after-sales care. We look forward to welcoming you to our premises where our team of friendly and knowledgeable staff would be delighted to help you.

Catherine's story and how it all started...

The journey began in 2007 when I was on a hill walking trip to the Isle of Skye. After a long day outdoors, I found myself sitting in a tent, soaking wet, longing for a warm and dry place to relax. It was then that I realised there was a gap in the Highland business market for small campervan hire companies. Inspired by this insight, I purchased a campervan, and Highland Campervans was born.

With just two campervans, our hire fleet grew over time to include a variety of vehicles — from compact panel vans to larger coach-built motorhomes. Notably, the fleet featured a bespoke model built by Stephen on the chassis of a Hyundai i800 people carrier, showcasing our commitment to innovation and personalised service.

Over the years, we've expanded our services to sales, servicing, and a well-stocked accessories shop. Our experienced sales team has over 50 years of motorhome and caravan sales between them, so they are well-placed to help with advice on layouts and features that can help you find the perfect leisure vehicle.

At our core, we are passionate about offering unforgettable motorhome adventures while staying firmly committed to sustainability. We believe that exploring the world should leave a positive impact, which is why we prioritise eco-friendly practices in every aspect of our business—from selling fuel-efficient vehicles to encouraging responsible travel habits among our customers. Our goal is to help travellers connect with nature, local communities, and the open road in a way that respects the environment and preserves its beauty for generations to come.

We’ve currently taken a pause in our motorhome hire services to focus on supporting the growing number of motorhome visitors coming to the area. With increased demand for maintenance and servicing, our attention has shifted to providing top-quality support through our fully equipped fixed workshop. This dedicated space now allows us to better accommodate walk-in customers - many of whom are travelling in hired motorhomes and are in need of prompt, reliable service. Our commitment remains to keeping motorhome adventures smooth, safe, and stress-free for everyone on the road.

We speak from the heart and we share the same passions as our customers. We also work hard to encourage the development of motorhome facilities around the Highlands & Islands area, supporting projects with advice and expertise. We are a member of the Campervan and Motorhome Professional Association (CAMPA). Their aim is to help create a sustainable future for the campervan and motorhome industry by communicating with users on general motorhome etiquette, informal camping advice, safe driving practices and environmental awareness.
