Having good insurance for your motorhome or campervan is crucial for protecting both your vehicle and your peace of mind. Unlike standard vehicles, motorhomes serve as both transportation and living space, making them a significant financial and personal investment.

Before phoning for insurance quotes, ensure you have the basic information to hand such as registration details for the vehicle and knowledge of any security devices fitted. Be aware that if you declare an alarm has been fitted to your motorhome, but then it is not turned on for any reason, you will invalidate your insurance cover.

The following security devices are required, dependent on the value of the motorhome.

• Motorhome value up to £50,000:
• Immobiliser (assumed fitted as standard) - No additional security required

• Motorhome value between £50,001 - £60,000:
• Thatcham Cat. 1 or Thatcham Cat. 2 to 1 upgrade or Van Bitz device

         OR Approved Tracking device  OR  Approved steering wheel lock*

• Motorhome value between £60,001 - £75,000:
• Thatcham Cat. 1 or Thatcham Cat. 2 to 1 upgrade or Van Bitz device

         OR  Approved tracking device

• Motorhome value between £75,001 - £100,000:
• Thatcham Cat. 2 to 1 upgrade or Van Bitz device AND Approved tracking device (minimum S7)

• Motorhome value of £100,000+:
• Thatcham Cat. 2 to 1 upgrade or Van Bitz device

AND

Approved tracking device (Thatcham S5 or S7 dependent on risk – please ask your customer to call for exact requirement). Note at a value of £100,000+ reversing cameras or sensors must also be fitted, plus Caravan Guard / Supersure will review driver experience and storage location before underwriting acceptance.
