Bringing Positive Sunflower Vibes to our Community
Local businesses Mid Coul Farms and Highland Campervans have joined together to help raise funds for two local charities, the Highland Hospice and Inverness Rowing Club.
A field of sunflowers has been planted at Kerrowaird on the A96 by Mid Coul Farms and Moray Estates as part of their sustainability goals. Hazel Geddes who runs the offices for the organic Mid Coul farms said “we really wanted to do something that engaged with the local community and help generate funds for local charities”.
On Saturday 10 August and Saturday 17 August, members of the public are invited to take a stroll through the sunflower field between 11am – 3pm, to pick their own sunflowers and immerse in the beauty of a blooming sunflower field. Cash donations for the two charities will be gratefully received.
Prior to the event, a team from Highland Campervans took some sunshine and smiles to those unable to visit the sunflower field, by delivering bouquets to care homes in and around the Inverness area. Managing Director Catherine Bunn said “My team were keen to spread some Sunflower warmth and a lot of the team here are caring for elderly parents. They appreciate the hard work that care home staff do and it was lovely to bring the bright sunshine of these flowers to the residents of local care homes”.
Highland Campervans have previously supported both local charities with staff members taking part in Strictly Inverness and they have a team taking part in the Inverness Rowing Club & Highland Hospice Rowing Regatta, which takes place on 21st September.
Parking for the sunflower field is at Highland Campervans, on the A96 just before Inverness Airport. Visitors are advised to wear wellies/sturdy footwear. Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.
