Sutherland - Local holiday inspiration! Image

Looking for the perfect Highland holiday? Hoping to open your eyes and see sunrises and sunsets that are truly unique, or listen to waves crashing on the shore? Wherever you wish to travel our campervans can provide comfort throughout your journey.

One of the best kept secrets in the Highlands is a short journey from Inverness.  Options for romance, adventure, delicious local produce, and drinks, cycling and many more options, are all based in Sutherland!

Awe inspiring Sutherland is unique with its three 3 coasts; East, West and North in addition to the town of Dornoch.  Deserted sandy beaches, potential sights of dolphins, porpoises, and places of interest within a short drive. Nearby, Golspie offers the chance to view the world-famous Dunrobin Castle in addition to many breath-taking walks.  A personal favourite of many are the beaches of Sandwood Bay, Durness and other gems.

With its particularly sunny climate thanks to its sheltered position there are opportunities to simply sit and delight in the views.  From Dornoch Point heading past Embo beach to the mouth of Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve the waves crashing on the shore provide a chance to appreciate nature at its best.  Adjacent to the beach is a Site of Special Scientific Interest that features nesting birds, flora, and fauna.

The most popular campsites on the East Coast are Dornoch Caravan & Camping Park, Dornoch Firth Caravan, and Brora Club Campsite.

  • Dornoch Caravan & Camping Park is situated in the Royal Burgh of Dornoch on the east coast of Sutherland. Dornoch Caravan and Camping Park can be found next to Dornoch’s award winning beautiful golden beaches.  The magnificent golf courses are only a five-minute walk from Dornoch Cathedral.
  • Dornoch Firth Caravan Park offers family holidays in the Scottish Highlands with a wide range of on-site facilities.  From lodges, fully serviced pitches for campervans (maximum length 6m), pitches for small tents, an award-winning Pavilion with wet rooms, toilets, dedicated amenities for those with disabilities, laundry facilities and an outdoor children’s adventure play area.
  • Brora Caravan Club Site offers plenty of attractions for the whole family. Birdwatchers will be in their element - as Arctic Tern nest just above the beach waterline. Those who enjoy water activities will have a choice of the loch or the sea for either swimming or fishing. The caravan park is an ideal place to unwind.  Lose track of time while watching birds, seals, dolphins, and deer. To fully take in the spectacular views of the region you can walk, drive or cycle along quiet routes to discover the many picturesque lochs and mountains.

A little detour to the Mermaid of the North should be on the agenda too.  To visit her make your way to the village of Balintore and to the car park at the Seaboard Centre.
